Westwood Christian vs. Key West High

Published by wcsbasketball on

Our boys took the 4-hour Saturday afternoon drive down to Key West High, missing a few key players yet ready for action nonetheless. It was obvious that the long drive had its affects early-on in this game, as we struggled from the opening tip. Getting in some early foul trouble limited the down-low play but luckily our Warriors swung the ball offensively and found our “hot-hand” often.

James was the recipient of many of those “swings” and the results were very positive. He put the ball on the floor and attacked the rim relentlessly, basically scoring on every possession. James would not be denied along that baseline, soaring through for numerous highlight-reel plays. His season-high 30-points to go along with 12 rebounds really propelled our Warriors in this one. Whenever we needed a big bucket, James was there to answer to call.

8th grader Jordan Shorter worked the glass hard and showed his versatility with his ball-handling and distributing play. Senior Adrian Farradas kept the defense at bay with his game-high 4 3-pointers and 19-points while also chipping-in with 3 steals.

Adrian continues to put on display his outside “touch” and has been a huge part of our early season success. The catalyst of the game however, belonged to Berlingo, as he methodically broke-down the opposing zone defense, slicing through the lane and creating easy opportunities for his teammates. His 8-points,10-assists, 2-steals, helped lift our Warriors to a second-half cushion and gave him the confidence needed to run the team convincingly.

Final Score: Warriors 72 – Key West 55
