Westwood Christian vs. Florida Christian

Published by wcsbasketball on

Our Warriors had the opportunity of playing a game at the American Airlines Arena versus Florida Christian in a battle of unbeaten teams, and we wasted little time in showing our enthusiasm and excitement. Getting to play on the same floor as the NBA-ers was a big treat for our guys and a special day overall.

The game featured back-and-forth action and plenty of scoring early on. Florida Christian stuck to their perimeter shooting forcing our Warriors to buckle-down and really play smart defense. Our Warriors played their offensive game to perfection in the first half, pounding the ball inside on every try.

Emmanuel went to work early and often in the blocks and dominated the paint for our guys, finishing with a team-high 22-points, 16-rebounds, and 5-blocks. His presence and desire to attack the glass were a huge factor in this game.

James wasnt far behind, slashing to the rim and converting at the hoop with tremendous force and consistency. James is blossoming right before our eyes and is having a wonderful junior year. James finished the game with 21-points, 10-rebounds, and 4-steals but his biggest accomplishment of the night was shutting-down his opponent all game long. He literally “owned” his counterpart and basically took the game away from him.

Senior Matthew Mejias made valuable contributions in this one as well, using his strength and aggressiveness to help with the scoring (10-points) and brought his defensive and rebounding game with him as well. A total team effort and playing a smart game, helped fuel the fire for our Warriors and propelled them to the close victory.

Final Score: Warriors 70 – Florida Christian 67
